Today during EA’s EA Play E3 event a new trailer showcasing Madden 18’s story mode of sorts, titled “Longshot”.

You play as an aspiring football player trying to make it in the NFL, but struggling to do so, following the player as he trains, struggles and progresses to compete at the highest level. Featuring award winning actor Mahershala Ali and what looks like some good story telling, Longshot looks like it can bring at least a few hours of entertainment along side the returning franchise and ultimate team modes.

The trailer also shows 2  licensed college football teams, Oregon and Texas. This could mean college football might have quite a bit to do with Madden 18’s story mode. Its very refreshing to see the return of college football, at least in some capacity. NCAA football hasn’t been seen on consoles since 2014 when EA canceled that year’s entry and put the entire franchise on hold due to a lawsuit

Longshot looks very similar to FIFA’s journey mode. EA confirmed Journey is returning to FIFA 18 and that Protagonist Alex Hunter might be heading to the US to play MLS.
