Hello Games announced today they will be introducing a free content update to No Man’s Sky, titled Path Finder. No date was said for its release on the PlayStation blog, but the team did mention it add planetary vehicles, overall improvements, and a path to the future.
They summarized what the content update was going to include:
- PlayStation 4 Pro Support
- Improved Visuals
- Owning Multiple Ships
- Base Sharing Online
- New Vehicles — Exocraft
- Permadeath Mode
- Build Vehicle Race Tracks
- Ship Specializations and Classes
- Double the Base Building Variety
- Multi-tool Specialization and Classes
- New Weapon Modes
- Photo Mode
- Discovery Menu
- Quality of Life Improvements
- 50% more original music from 65daysofstatic
Details were given regarding some of what is to be included in the content, like the new vehicles called Exocraft. These allow players to explore and travel at great speeds across even the harshest planetary terrains. There are three Exocraft to collect, which can be obtained through Base Building, and each of them can be improved with powerful weaponry, mining equipment, and long-range scanners.
Hello Games is also introducing a new game mode. Permadeath. Yes, it is exactly what you think. It mirrors Survival mode (which was made harder with damaged ships crash landing on planets), but dying also wipes all your saves and your start fresh from the beginning. New Trophies have been added into No Man’s Sky for Permadeath mode.
If you wish to see the full patch notes (as they are extremely long) don’t hesitate to go on over to the Path Finder website.
