PlayStation is officially letting players change their gamertags today. It’s been a long awaited feature, especially for those who regret their starting names.

During the beta preview program for this feature, PlayStation found an instance where a game didn’t fully support the name change. It was previously stated that PS4 titles published on April 1st, 2018 and after, would be compatible.

However, this is no longer the case, since not all the games published after the aforementioned date have been specifically tested. PlayStation is encouraging PS4 users to head over to a list of tested titles. They did mention a “large majority of most actively played PS4 games” do support the feature.

PlayStation released a FAQ to guide anyone with questions:

Q. What do you mean by a game supports the online ID change if it was ‘originally published’ on or after April 1, 2018?

  • You may lose progress within games, including game saved data, leaderboard data, and progress towards Trophies.
  • Parts of your game and applications may not function properly both online and offline.
